About me

Sam Rhodes midwife

The life of a midwife

I became a midwife after I had my own three children, two in the UK and one here in NZ. In both places I received excellent midwifery care which built my passion for the midwifery profession. While pregnant I couldn’t read enough about the wonder of the female body and the strength of women during pregnancy and childbirth. I still love to learn and now I am passionate about teaching women as much as I can during the antenatal and postnatal period, to empower all women to make informed choices. I am very proud to receive positive feedback (see below) regarding the kindness and care I provide to women at this special time in their lives, and a common thread in my feedback is clear information sharing which results in tailored guidance and trust in the woman midwife partnership. In recent years I have supported women and families through Covid restrictions in a safe manner.

We had a rough journey with care for our first and ended up going private with an obstetrician. Sam really put the faith back into the midwifery model of healthcare for us
